Portugal Ventures invests in DefinedCrowd
DefinedCrowd is the most recent Portuguese start-up to be selected for co-investment by Portugal Ventures, including Sony Innovation Fund and Amazon Alexa Fund.

“This seed round is an historical milestone for our company. We will continue the investment in Portugal, where all our R&D continues. A Portuguese investment in this context was strategic for us, and we’re thrilled to have Portugal Ventures, the most prestigious VC in Portugal, backing us in this round”, said Daniela Braga, CEO of DefinedCrowd.

Celso Guedes de Carvalho, CEO of Portugal Ventures, said “With this co-investment, Portugal Ventures enhances its objective to invest in start-ups with global ambition. Defined Crowd will use the funding raised in this round to take another key step in its growth, and proudly becomes a part of Portugal Ventures’ portfolio”.

With expertise in speech and natural language technologies, the DefinedCrowd platform leverages machine learning, data science and modern crowdsourcing to enable enterprises easily manage their global data collection and enrichment programs.

This investment was made following its submission to the Call For Entrepreneurship. Through the various editions of the Call For Entrepreneurship, Portugal Ventures has already invested in 61 start-ups with the ambition to become companies of excellence on a global scale. The 16th edition of the Call is now open and projects may be submitted until 8th September.
