Portugal Ventures, a venture capital company of the Banco Português de Fomento Group, in partnership with Turismo de Portugal and NEST – Tourism Innovation Centre, launched a new edition of Call FIT – Fostering Innovation in Tourism, with the aim of investing Tourism early-stage projects.
Applications are open until January 19, 2026, with pre-screening in three different periods:
- 1st cut-off: August 27 to September 29, 2025
- 2nd cut-off: 30 September to 24 November 2025
- 3rd cut-off: 25 November 2025 to 19 January 2026
Each project may receive an investment of 150 thousand euros. The following are eligible:
- Non-technological projects that present differentiating concepts for the national tourist offer, contributing to the enrichment of the tourist experience and strengthening Portugal’s competitiveness as a destination.
- Technological projects that develop solutions to improve the efficiency of companies in the sector, as well as their offer of products and services.
Applications must be submitted exclusively through Portugal Ventures‘ Ignition Partner Network, which includes more than 130 entities nationwide, including incubators, accelerators, universities, technology hubs and clusters, associations and municipalities. Projects that are not currently incubated or monitored should establish contact with one of these entities for evaluation and possible submission of the application.
Since its launch, and after the program’s reformulation in 2022, Call FIT has already invested in six startups, for a total amount of 880 thousand euros.
As part of this edition, Portugal Ventures will promote a webinar on 9 September, at 3 pm, open to the entire community, to present the eligibility conditions and the application process. The session will be led by Miguel Barbosa, Director of Portugal Ventures’ Tourism Unit, who will make a brief presentation of the initiative and answer the questions posed. Registration here.
